Join us next Saturday, May 5th at 11 a.m. for “Conversations In The Park” in the heart of historic Rosenwald. Our monthly series for 2018 will kick off outdoors on the Mary C. Jenkins Community Center property. We are located right at the intersections of Oakdale Street, Mills Avenue and Cashiers Valley Road in Brevard, North Carolina. There is ample parking onsite and right across the street at the Silversteen playground/park parking lot.
Everyone in the community is invited to come out, youth through adults, to help with beautifying the space and to learn more about the Carver Garden Club. Once upon a time, the garden club would meet regularly at the MCJ Community Center. Bring your water, a hat and a chair if you’ve come to join the conversation. If you’re also coming to work while you fellowship, please add your garden tools! For those who are able to contribute something to plant, we would especially welcome shrubs like hostas and azaleas; ones that will last and look good for a long time.
The event is free to the public. Love offerings are welcome and would go towards the Mary C. Jenkins Community Center revitalisation project. Duration is approximately an hour.
For any little ones who join us, we hope to have our storybook walk set up at the back of the community center. It’s a beautiful space, perfect for a leisurely stroll. To tie into our outdoor, nature theme, our selected book is a picture book classic, “Miss Rumphius.” Written and illustrated by Barbara Cooney, it features the story of Miss Alice Rumphius, a woman who sought to make the world a more beautiful place by scattering and planting lupine seeds in the wild. If you are local, please contact me if you’d like to volunteer to be a reader for any little ones who’d like to hear the story. We’d love to have you join us!
Show up or you may BOOK directly ONLINE.
